Artificial Light (AL) is a series of images using landscape and still-life images with a digital nonorganic overlay. The series theme explores the concept of positive and negative space. We often think of negative space in photography as the black or empty areas of the image, but there are other ways to define negative space. There is a visual energy between positive and negative space by digitally painting graphic shapes onto my images to add another element to the space. I have chosen colors to balance the compositions and create harmony with the background image. I have used an algorithm with filters to create directional movement, as seen in Artificial Light.
